Founded as a partnership in 1995 by Sharie and Robert Di Donato, Cadworks has been providing Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) services to the Northern California area for 22 years. As a certified DBE, WBE and SEED company, Cadworks offers a range of services, from CADD production, staffing, and outsourcing to consulting and staff training. The firm provides design and drafting services for several disciplines, including architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical. Project types have included large-scale water and waste-water treatment plants, hydro-electric power plants and substations, roads and land development, utility piping and process piping.
Another area of expertise for Cadworks is the scanning of existing buildings using highly sophisticated equipment and Drone Photogrammetry to develop as-built drawings and models that can be used to determine the integrity of the structures and facilitate major renovations. Using the newest, state-of-the-art Building Information Modeling (BIM) programs, these drawings are developed with a high degree of accuracy allowing edits and changes to be made in a fraction of the time previously required. Cadworks provided these services recently for the 150,000 S.F. Historic Macaulay Foundry in Berkeley, CA. The project required 990 scans performed over a six-week period. Specialty equipment used for the project included the Faro Focus X330 for interior data collection and the Inspire I Drone for exterior and roof data collection. Data was exported to Revit for the final model.
Cadworks is dedicated to understanding and servicing its clients’ needs and seeing their projects through to completion. Cadworks provides in-house staffing and off-site Microstation and AutoCAD services, including Plant 3D, Civil 3D, Revit, AECOSim. Above is an example of the Historic Macaulay Foundry modeled from laser scans.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of physical and functional characteristics of a facility. A BIM is a shared knowledge resource for information about a facility forming a reliable basis for decisions during its life-cycle; defined as existing from earliest conception to demolition.
Reality Capture (also known as RC) is photogrammetry software which creates 3D models out of unordered photographs (terrestrial and/or aerial) or laser scans without seams. We use it primarily for As-Built Modeling and Site Surveys.
AutoCAD Civil 3D software is a design and documentation solution for civil engineering that supports building information modeling (BIM) workflows. By using AutoCAD Civil 3D, you can improve project performance, maintain consistent data, follow standard processes, and respond faster to change.
